1. The calculator's arithmetic is local

The Gig Worker Tax Calculator runs entirely in your web browser. Every figure you type — your gross earnings, your miles, your filing status, any W-2 withholding, any tax you have already paid — is used by JavaScript already loaded on your device. No calculation is sent anywhere. There is no account, no sign-up, no form submission, and no database of visitor figures.

The rate tables the calculator uses are a single file served to your browser. When your browser requests that file it reveals nothing about what you typed; the request is identical for every visitor.

Your entries also are not saved between visits. Reload the page and the fields return to their defaults, because nothing was stored.

2. Google advertising on this site

This site displays advertising supplied by Google. To do that, Google's ad scripts load into the page alongside the calculator.

Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.

• You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
• You can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info.
• You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, a consent message is presented before advertising cookies are set, and you may change or withdraw your choice at any time from the link on that message.

3. What Google's ad code can see

Google receives the ordinary information your browser sends when it requests an ad: the page address, your approximate location derived from your IP address, your device and browser type, and any advertising cookie identifiers already on your device.

It does not receive your tax figures. Those values live in the page's input fields and in memory. They are never read into an ad request, never placed in a URL, and never written into a cookie by this site.

We do not ourselves collect, store, sell or share any personal information about you. We have no mailing list, no analytics account, and no way to identify an individual visitor.

4. Hosting

This site is served as static files by a hosting provider. Like any web host, that provider processes standard server request logs — IP address, timestamp, requested file, browser user-agent — for security and reliability. Those logs are the host's, not ours, and are not linked to anything you typed into the calculator.

5. Children

This site is intended for adults earning income from gig work. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

6. Your choices

• Block or clear cookies in your browser settings — the calculator will still work exactly the same, because it does not depend on cookies.
• Use an ad blocker or a private browsing window if you prefer not to receive advertising cookies.
• Change your personalised-ads setting using the links in section 2.

7. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted at this address with an updated date at the top.
